Commission Groups

A Message to our Group Leaders

A NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS

In conjunction with our COMMISSION Series this Fall, we are encouraging every person to jump into a Commission Group and journey together through 12 core priorities (or values) in which we practically live out what it means to love God, love people, and make disciples.

Being part of a Commission Group is a great way to meet new people or deepen existing relationships. During this season especially, Commission Groups are an important way of uniting with others around what it looks like to be a on mission together. These groups are opportunities for spiritual growth and personal development within a safe setting, and quite simply, a lot of fun!

This page will serve as a hub for video resources, curriculum booklets, and anything else that group leaders may need. If you have any questions or suggestions on things to add, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

On mission together,

Pastor Cameron Shepherd Beyenberg & Pastor Janelle Coleman

A NOTE TO GROUP LEADERS

Thank you for facilitating a Commission Group this Fall. We invite you to use the curriculum as is, or modify it to suit the context of your group. Whether your group members are part of the CCF community, part of another church, or just finding their feet when it comes to following Jesus, the mission of loving God, loving people, and making disciples, is something that we are all called to.

This curriculum is designed to help us all discover the ways that we can practically live out this mission, through these 12 distinct priorities (or qualities) of a disciple.

God’s Word. God’s Presence. Worship. Prayer. Relationship. Righteousness. Unity. Honor. Discipleship. Evangelism. Multiplication. Generosity

As a Commission Group leader, we also encourage you to keep these goals in mind:

  • To encourage and empower people to be spending time in God’s Word together. (Love God)
  • To facilitate healthy dialogue within safe community, while focusing on these 12 key priorities. (Love People)
  • To prayerfully and strategically find someone within your group to mentor into a leadership position, with the goal of multiplying your group in Winter 2024. (Make Disciples)

At the conclusion of your Commission Group, we will be inviting you to share some reflections on your time together, along with the name of the person that you are recommending as a future group leader.

May God bless you in your gift of leadership in this season,

Pastor Cameron Shepherd Beyenberg & Pastor Janelle Coleman

FAQ’S FOR ATTENDEES

Q. Do I need to attend CCF to be part of a Commission Group?
A. Not at all! The beautiful thing about these 12 priorities is they are marks of a disciple (aka follower of Jesus) no matter what church they may attend – if any at all.

Q. Which Commission Group should I choose?
A. We’d encourage you to start with prayer. Sometimes God will highlight something about a group to you. Next, think about what you would benefit most from right now in terms of group type – eg. all one gender? Finally, consider what your availability is, which we have listed as the last thing because sometimes God calls us to step out of what is convenient and comfortable to experience growth.

Q. How do I get connected to a Group?
A. It’s easy! Sign up’s will be happening in the CCF Lobby on August 13, 20 and 27. You can also sign up anytime online by clicking HERE.

Q. What if I miss a Group meeting?
A. First, be sure to let your leader know that you won’t be able to make it to the meeting. They will most likely be able to catch you up on what was missed, and the curriculum booklets make it easy to stay current.

Q. Do I have to stay in this Group beyond Fall 2023?
A. Not at all. We deliberately create on-ramp and off-ramp seasons when it comes to groups so people feel the freedom to rotate through different contexts. While every group is following the same curriculum for the Fall, groups do tend to have different focuses at other times of the year.

Q. How do I become a Group leader?
A. We absolutely love this question! And please know that we are cheering you on in that goal. The best thing you can do is to share that desire with a current group leader and ask them to mentor you during this Fall season. We are asking every group to multiply in Winter 2024 (which simply means a current member of their group will begin a new group) in Winter 2024, so now is the perfect time to prepare for that.

FAQ’S FOR LEADERS

Q. When will the curriculum be available?
A. The printed curriculum for both leaders and your participants will be available for pick up on Sunday, August 27th. It will also be available to download through this page by that date.

Q. How can people sign up for my group?
A. People can sign up in the CCF Lobby on August 13, 20 and 27. They can also sign up online by clicking HERE. Once your group page is “live” you will receive a direct link that you can share with people as you invite them.

Q. How should we use the video resources?
A. That all depends on how (and/or how often) your group will meet. For groups that meet weekly, we’d suggest incorporating the video into your time together. For groups who meet less often, you might want to ask your group members to watch the videos during their own time and come with notes/reflections for when you meet. This would allow you to combine “weeks” together and stay in sync with Sunday messages.
Videos will be available here on this page, and hosted on our Youtube page. The first month of videos will be available by August 27th.

Q. I’m new to leading a group. Do you have any tips or best practices that you could share with me?
A. So many, but we will keep it simple!
– Be prayerful… while we all go into group settings with an agenda, ultimately, we want to align with what God has planned for our time together.
– Come prepared… maybe highlight one or two questions that you’d like to spend the most time on during your meeting, and encourage them to reflect on the others in their own time.
– Honor people’s time… this can be as simple as starting and ending on time. But it also means finding creative (and kind) ways to ensure that everyone gets a chance to share while in the group setting.
– Ask for help if you need it… we are just an email or phone call away!

Q. What if we are struggling with the idea of planting a new group?
A. While groups are an amazing context to live out the commandments of loving God and loving people, it’s vital that they also be a place where leaders are identified, encouraged, raised up and empowered out. The true evidence of your leadership at work in the lives of others, is when you can see them turn around and invest their leadership into someone else… and so on, and so on.
For groups who have been together for a long time, we know this can feel bitter-sweet, but there are creative ways to “stay together” while also multiplying; such as meeting together as a large group once each month, and smaller groups the other times.

Introduction (Week 1)

Cucamonga Christian Fellowship desires to glorify God and expand His Kingdom by being worshippers and witnesses of Christ Jesus who influence the world to experience transformation through our expression of the Gospel. This video is the first in a series of video resources to help us love God, love people and make disciples more intentionally and effectively. We are thrilled that you are joining us on the journey and want to encourage you, right now, to invite someone to join you!

RESOURCE VIDEOS (Weeks 2 - 5)

Love God - When Jesus is asked by a teacher of the law what is the greatest commandment, He responds by declaring we are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mt. 22:34-40; Dt. 6). Therefore, we long to faithfully love God through the following specific priorities.

RESOURCE VIDEOS (Weeks 10 - 13)

Make Disciples - After Jesus’ resurrection, He appears before His disciples and gives them a mission. He declares, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Mt. 28:18-20).” Therefore, we devote ourselves to no making disciples through the following specific priorities.
